I WAS DRESSED AS Batman’s sidekick, Robin, when a reporter on the red carpet of the Playboy/Kick-Ass 2 party at San Diego Comic-Con stopped to ask me who my favorite porn star was. I gave it some thought. I wasn’t someone who watched a ton of porn, but I had favorites, so I threw out a few names.

Glenn immediately jumped in to stop me.

“She’s not speaking on the matter,” Glenn said to the reporter as he pulled me away. “Never admit you watch porn to anyone, especially a journalist,” he said.

I shut my mouth fast, but I wasn’t sure why.

This was my first Comic-Con and the first time I wore cosplay—costume play, where you dress up as your favorite characters from comic books and entertainment—that anyone noticed. Glenn thought it would be a good way to get me to meet Hollywood insiders, but I was more interested in meeting fans and dressing up.

“Pose like a superhero,” a photographer yelled out, and I fanned open my cape and readied my stance. I was a complete geek and obsessed with anything comic book or Star Wars, so I loved this. To be asked to do this was like a kid being asked to eat all the Halloween candy. It was fun and a rush. I wasn’t privy to professional costume designers yet and did not make anything for myself. Still, my store-bought costume elicited a reaction in myself and in others.

There was a huge bungee jump thing in the center of the party, and I wanted to try it. Glenn stood in line with me, and we talked about all the buzz and attention my photos and red carpet appearances had been getting.

“I’ve never seen photographers get so excited about someone,” he said. “And if we’re smart, we could be on the verge of something big.”

As I was being strapped in, I agreed with him, but then I got sucked up on the ride, and I was flying all alone.
